That will be of little benefit to someone in Europe, independent DNS services have their uses but outside the US that's probably just to circumvent an employer's or public wifi internet settings.
As far as government monitoring goes the only affect it will have is to attract attention but it's unlikely they care.

I use a cloudflare service to sit between the company webshite and the rest of the tinternets to reduce the attack surface. They also cache stuff which reduces the bandwidth we use and provides a static version of the site should the live webserver fail.

I've installed it and it does seem to load up sites quicker? Am I imagining it then?

It could well be true as websites usually send many DNS requests, your phone will most likely already have a local DNS cache as will your ISP but they do vary. The (fairly rare) problem with many levels of caches comes when something changes, each level needs to wait for the previous one to update first.
The service KFB mentioned is probably something different from the same company and does a lot more.
This isn't a bad product but I don't see much point in it.

Loads up the BBC website pretty much instantly!! Tried a few others such as Bridgeman immages and it flicks between the thumbnail heavy pages really quick. If I turn it off now I wont get a comparison without deleting cookies right? It really does seem to make quite a difference though?
