Iíve got an IP camera that I use to monitor the flat when Iím not here, which is often. Just pondering moving it but that means an ugly cable running down the hall, across the living room to the router.
Can I buy a plug in WiFi extender and plug the cable from the camera into it do you think? If so will I lose any of the quality of picture?
If not, any other way to do it?

You could run it through a couple of 1000mbs home plugs, one at the router, the other closer to the camera. You will probably need a POE (Power over Ethernet) injector to power the camera as the homeplugs will only supply a data feed (unless the camera has a separate power supply).

Yep, camera has a separate power supply. So a pair of home plugs is the way to go, off to Amazon before mad Friday is over.

I think I've got TP Link ones and they have been pretty much faultless over the last 4 months. They are less necessary than they were due to improving the WiFi across the whole house but there are certain items I won't rely on WiFi for (e.g. TV, central heating, server, printer) which all connect to the router via various home plugs following a recommendation here.
