My mate at work is struggling with the rubber boot at the rear of the r/h (dip beam) headlamp. It doesn't go back into place, and hangs on the wires, eventually causing the plug to come loose.

It would be great to know how this boot it supposed to be secured. It looks to me as though you need to get it into place in the middle of the bike, and then pull it out and over the lip with the rubber tab on the boot, so that it's an interference fit on the lip all round. Is that right? Do you need to take the side fairing off to do this, or can it be done with all the gubbins in situ?

    Any tips or tricks?

If its anything like my Hornet, half the fucking loom is stuffed in the back of the headlight which doesn't make things easy at all.

Lol.the mate who has one is rapid we rode up to varazdin for a party.all back roads ,he was off like a rocket .really smooth and fast .
other mate who had one is slow as treacle though .
anything can be dull but can fly in the right hands.

I've variously used vaseline to grease the rubber or petrol to soften it then half a turn clockwise and back until the thinnest part of the grommet secures itself in the aperture. I've got a number of screwdrivers that I've ground the ends down (after they have broken) which I occasionally use to give grommets and boots a little encouragement.

I did it the other night on my CBR F2, I doubt the design has changed.
My hands are cut but eventually it went on, you sort of have to push it and twist it all whilst applying pressure around the edges at the same time so it goes over the lip.

It doesn't help because there is hardly any room to do it, my hand is now sore, but eventually after a faff it does go on.

Did you take the side fairing off?

I think I am going to end up doing this, as my mate is not that handy with these things, and I have MUCH smaller hands than he does!

No I didn't need to, but it cut my hand to bits.
