Hi, is it possible to change a registration plate number for another of same year at a minimal cost? i.e not spending 250 for a private plate

Reason I ask is that I got a NIP for my KTM, 43 in a 30. Thing is, it wasn't me or my bike... Its been sorned and in the garage since November.
I informed police and dvla, sent photos and they seem OK about it but now it's been cloned then I reckon it'll be nothing but hassle with being stopped or further NIP's.

Ring the DVLA and ask. The worst they can do is say no, but with a good reason they may let you do it.

    Was it a ktm?
If so, it's time to have some fun!
But seriously, if the bike is sorned, then it is only time before anpr pick it up and either you'll get a very red faced copper knocking down your door or the problem will sort itself out.

Yep, 1190 Adventure. I live in Leicester and the camera photo showed 2 scrotes in Dartford. Pillion with a rucksack.
Just don't want any hassle if they don't get them before Spring.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

It's been proved to the Feds that it's a cloned plate. If it happens again just refer them to the previous incident.

You shouldn't have to spend any money or time sorting out issues caused by some scumbags.

Cheers. Let's see how it goes before I put the bike back on the road.

I'm sure when this happened to my mate, he got stopped a coiupel of times as his bike had an indicator (or something?) that the ANPR picked up on? So it might mean you'll get stopped more? One of the resident PoPo might be able to advise you bette than my supposition?

Don't worry about it. As a side note, it will also cost you when you inform your insurance company of your new plate number, admin fee 35ish for change of details mid term.

Any particular distinguishing features/differences between the two bikes? Might make life easier if you have a photo to carry with you.

Plod asked for a close up of number plate, showing dealer details. Also I have an aftermarket exhaust.
I wouldn't say that I always ride within the speed limits so getting pulled more often could be a right royal pain.

If it does start to happen, there is probably an unofficial way of making sure local police ignore ANPR warnings.

My mate had his rsq3 plate cloned.
Last week he had the car nicked. Broke in whilst him and his family were asleep. They left tablets phones etc just took the Audi keys and car.
Be interesting when the cloned car pings up again on the anpr.
