Weather didn't stop me and I didn't feel the need to emigrate afterwards either.
Man up yourself. Today I've been kitesurfing in the Eastern Solent in 26-30 knots of wind, temperature was about 9C so that's a wind chill of about 4C. And it was drizzling.

Lots of folk who are wary/scared/unsure of retiring. Some don't want the sun.

Well, this is a motorcylce forum and very few mention wanting to ride bikes. Well I can, every day

Today we went out with an old pal from Bradford....

    Just getting warmed up..

Then a quick play on the sandy MX circuit

Then some fun on the big sand dunes...I'm in red on red/white bike

Then we went off for 3 hour ride on some serious stuff

This proves retiring somewhere warm is shit. Sorry.

Pah! You should have seen me carving my way through the heavy traffic on the A13 in the freezing, pissing rain. I made it home with some feeling left in my finger tips too. Skillz!

Lucky bugger. I used to love commuting in the cold, then putting my hands in a sink full of hot water to thaw out. Bradford used to get proper cold

There have been many times when I've been so glad not to be a 'ard biker. Me, in my heated gloves - the only one of the group who's fingers worked well enough to undo the helmet chinstrap

One thing that i'd really enjoy would be a full on motorcycle valet business... But on my terms. However due to peoples attitudes i don't think that's a viable business for someone who needs an actual income... So a semi-retirement plan i think would really work well. Spend a whole day, stripping sorting and cleaning a bike for someone for £200 pocket money, perfect... But I'm not convinced there's that many who'd pay for it.
If I trade in the Sprint for a Tiger 800 I'd spring for it.

It's 0532 here, I'm supping my morning brew on the patio in just a pair of shorts before I head off to the gym and then I've got an early start at work - because I'm taking an early finish for a BBQ out on my mates patio, it'll be about 25c by 6pm and just nice.
Tomorrow I'm going back out into the desert for a ride on MX bikes and on Saturday I'm doing a trackday, it'll be high 20's all day.

I've spent almost almost two decades living in hot climates and two and a half in the UK, so I feel like I know how to compare, and overall I can't honestly put one over the other, I have amazing memories from both and I think my point is that life is whatever you want it to be, regardless of where you live - with the obvious caveat of money being the main lubrication to facilitate a nice life.

Right now I'd love a walk in an English wood, or maybe some shooting on a crisp winters morning with a frost and a threat of snow, then a nice meal in a pub with snow falling outside.
Give it a couple of years in the UK and I'd be fantasising about what I'm doing right now.

Most of us are fairly ambitious people and we're never satisfied with what we've got, always pushing for the next bike or another way to make it better, so it's only natural that we're all looking into next doors field and thinking it looks quite nice over there for that big jump when we retire.
