Picked this up today. 36k miles and it shows in places, but its only to be my daily hack, so not too worried about cosmetics. It has an interference device where you'd normally have a front brake! Huge front wheel makes turning interesting! I nearly stacked it about 45 times on the way home as I kept running wide! Great over potholes though.Took the back lanes when I got nearer home and whatever those big tread block tyres are handled some shitty roads well.

After the 690 if feels like a 125 lol as its completely standard. Makes it power much, much lower down and is almost vibe free by comparison to the Duke. I did think it'd bore me to sleep by the time I got home, but actually I kinda warmed to it luxobarge charms.

I'll look round it some more and find stuff to laugh at, but after walking bloody miles today, I'm going for a snooze...

No reason really, other than misty memories of riding down old cart tracks etc. It was local-ish, ULEZ compliant and seemed worth a punt? Think Id have preferred an X though, as they have brakes!

I had a feeling the R was quite a bit lighter than the X (?10kg). And better off road, obvs.

I don't know if they have the punch to need sticky tyres and big brakes.

I like your "get is sorted" attitude. Got to be worth a punt at least and you can always clean it and sell it for 50p more.

The tyres that impressed me and saved my butt yesterday are Michelin Siracs. The front brake, or lack of, and the clutch drag was caused by those adjustable levers being, err, over adjusted? Moved it from setting 1 to 6 and now have good pressure at the brake lever and its not reaching the twist grip now! HTF do people ride round with things so dangerously and badly adjusted?

Front brake wise, it's a small 300mm disc, so I'm sure there's scope for a 320mm conversion somewhere if I did feel it's really needed, but it's not like I really push a bike and it's a commuter, rather than paris/dakar entrant. I'll service the caliper and put new pads etc in first and see whats its like after that. I dont think its the standard M/Cylinder on there, so maybe someone has tried to improve things?

It has two spotlight things that are live wired and not switched, so they'll need to be rewired, or disconnected for now.

The topbox has to come off as I can't yet get my leg bent enough to get it up and over the seat with that on. I note the lock doesn't work anyway!

Oil filter winging its way here and i got a 30 Halfords voucher the other week, so that'll cover the fresh oil.

Needs a new number plate as it wont pass the MOT with the one it has delamination. Just got to remember the seller with the black backed ones...

That's about all i've noticed so far...
