    Conclusion

The climate change alarmists are given a free pass to throw out the most absurd rhetoric, such as a recent author’s warning that potentially billions of people could die because of human-caused climate change. Yet despite their claimed fidelity to the “consensus science,” such claims are not supported by the UN’s own climate change reports.
The most alarming of the projections of climate change damages rely on nave assumptions about human adaptability. Even if we stipulate the basic projections made in the most recent IPCC assessment, what “unchecked” climate change will probably mean is that our great-grandkids will see a smaller increase in their standard of living than they otherwise would have, if some of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere could have been costlessly removed. Such a possible outcome is no reason to panic, and it doesn’t justify massive government intervention in the energy or transportation sectors.

Having said that, I did read your blind links and I am somewhat bemused as to what it is you are trying to achieve with your selection of quotes. For example, I actually agree with a lot of what is being said: humans have created a consumption-driven civilization that is “hell bent on destroying itself.” As an executive summary, that's bang on the money for me. Part of that obsessive, capitalist, self destructive behaviour is allowing the very people responsible for this mess to invent new ways to make money out of the disastrous effects of human society. It does not mean the science is wrong or that we don't need to do something about it, it is an indictment of the human condition. Carbon tax is bollocks (imho) and merely a mechanism for people with money or power to make more money and exercise more power.

Re: "billions of people could die" well, if the planet becomes inhospitable for human life, in the long term they could. I see this planet as a vessel, a tiny insignificant speck of dust like a ship in a vast inhospitable universe. At the moment, capitalist greed is busy burning the furniture, ripping up the decking and shitting out the waste into the passenger section. All they are concerned about is fur lining their own private cabins. If the ship sinks, we all die. Whether or not it will sink is debatable, however if we carry on the way we are it is inevitable.

Bolsanaro isn't helping is he. It's amazing that one fucking idiot like him could allow/do so much damage to the planet.

Even if climate change is a hoax , what's so bad about putting less pollution into the environment which sustains all of us? Cutting down fewer rainforests? Or shall we keep going til all the oil was burnt, all the trees cut down, etc?

I wonder how Ms Thunberg will feel when she realises she's been used?

There's nothing bad about less pollution and cutting down less of the rain forests. What's bad if climate change is a hoax is that you'll have to find an even better hoax to convince people to do what they should be doing anyway.

Unfortunately for Greta, she was flying back with Thomas Cook:
