Bikes are a massive part of my life, I've been around them forever and always wanted one growing up. Passed my cbt on my 16th birthday, full test 2 days after my 17th birthday, loved riding completely. Then, about 6 years ago a close friend got very ill and it was an obviously pretty depressing time. I was out on my bike one day and got a text saying she was being transferred to a hospice, and in my rush to get back I almost crashed pretty badly. That experience really made me fall out of love with the bike for about a year, which is totally out of character for me. I think I did about 500 miles that year, which compared to around 8000 a year usually was nothing! I just didn't feel like riding, my head was always elsewhere so I didn't do it. In the end though I got back out on the bike more and more and then bought a new one, and after my blip I was back to normal with riding after a while.

What I'm saying is, if you don't feel like riding now, don't, just give it some time, go on some test rides, see if you find something else you like other than the panigale, but there's no rush. This time next year you might feel completely different about it.

I keep thinking I want to pack it in as well, both for financial and emotional reasons. However, I have still kept a bike in the garage and all my kit, although I hardly get out.

Having being recently caught (stupidly) by a speed camera has further dampened my enthusiasm, but I still cant make myself sell the bike.

I think just having the ability to go out makes it worthwhile for me and the fact that my son likes sitting on it when he comes around.

I am hoping to find my mojo soon.

Test of the 1200s was fun. Cold and wet but comfy with so much torque. The quick shift up AND DOWN was game changing. But didn’t walk away and feel wow.

About the ride the Pani home on the same roads as I just rode the Monster on for a direct comparison.

Ride home on the Pani was epic.

    For 5 minutes.

Then I hit traffic crap roads speed camera vans and a shit load of gravel that had just been dumped (have reported it). Got home with sore wrists and my back aching.

Thought about it. Looked at the bike. It is a work of art.

Then made the call and bought the Monster. Life’s too short for sore wrists.

Bit late as you have bought the monster - but you could have come to Brighton and tried a Diavel....

A Diavel isnít a bad idea. Ducati character and looks, ample power, but will happily cruise too.

Am I the only person that doesn’t like the Diavel?

No, I think it looks hideous, along with a lot of other new bikes.

So as many will know I bought another Monster thinking the problem was the 1199. It wasn’t. Monster is for sale. Great bike, but the issues is the roads and the amount of traffic. I’m done with bikes. The 696 is mothballed and will go on display in the new house.
