    Round
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
    Never ending nor beginning
    On an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain
    Or a carnival balloon
    Like a carousel that's turning
    Running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple
    Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Like a tunnel that you follow

Nothing really and i'm getting quite into it in many ways. But I had a F800S and in principle it was a great bike. Lovely engine, good linear performance and pretty amazing economy too and a cracking exhaust note to boot. The only downside was the thing was a dog in as much as it never ran right. Always cutting out and it could be quite dangerous when it died on you pulling onto a roundabout etc. So I sold it, vowing never to own a BMW again.

I always liked the F800R and wanted one but wouldn't allow myself to buy one due to past bad experiences with BMWs in general, notably the F800S. However BMW did do some quite drastic work on the F800 motor and appear to have ironed out a lot of the engine and running problems the previous grey coloured engine suffered from. So I thought I might scratch that itch and buy a 800R and use it for commuting for a few months? What could possibly go wrong...

I really wanted an f800s at the time you bought yours, saw one at a show and loved it. Even considered the exact one you bought in the end. Your experience really put me off!

You had a lucky escape if you were going to buy the one I did. I tried everything to solve it, and its a known problem with them, but I could not sort it. After a few dangerously close near misses I just gave up and sold it, for export thankfully. Never felt good about selling it, I really did feel it was too dangerous to be on the road and should have been scrapped.

I think the later ones are worth a punt though. I think a few on here have had the 800GS but didn't have the cutting out problems? A guy that worked here had a (black engined) 800ST and had a few electrical gremlins, dash going funny etc, but no running issues that he mentioned? I'll look into it a bit more before I pull the trigger, as the Merkins say...

Its a shame your s was no good. Mine was aces. Though it did give me a pain across the shoulders.
Engine was imo perfect for the road. Id take 790 over it now though.
