    There are some good self-catering apartments at JoG now. We stayed a couple of nights there.

    Got a B and B booked a few miles south at Lybster as i only need a one night stop to dry out and recharge then head back south again ..... i did look at Wick but it is overpriced thanks to the offshore industry

    Ah, but there's a distillery at Wick (Old Pultney). Not much to look at, though, I'll admit.

    Also passed the Glenmorangie distillery on the A9 on the way up after leaving Inverness

    The hotel/bar i had dinner at tonight just south of Wick had a few bottles of Old Pultney behind the bar...never noticed it or heard of it before so it clicked and then again when i now saw your post

    should add i got fucking soaked Day 1, lovely weather day 2 to reach the top



    probably getting fucking soaked again tomorrow on way west and south
