Lol race entries now would terrify you. Even at a half arsed club level meet they're coming in at £358 for 2 classes. That's per day!

When i was involved with Bemsee among the sidecar lot as a stand in passenger they usually paid half the entry fee and tyres with the rider who usually owned the outfit looking after everything else ..... even at that low extent i couldnt afford it

Yup, Ive heard that. I wasn't being an old fart saying it was better in my day. BUT, it was a lot cheaper. In our second season, the 3 of us sharing a van did 40 meetings. Honestly. Usually double headers at same track to avoid transport costs.

But in answer to the costs nowadays, somebody is creaming money off the top.

Todays cost of Circuit hire is astronomical, add in insurance liability, logistics, timing and medical cover which even as a bare minimum costs a lot to have at least one A and E doctor on site for a meeting... Bemsee used to have 2 docs plus 2 vans with 2-3 trauma paramedics on top of the marshal cover of 100 or so each meeting .... New Era ran with 1 doc and 2 paramedics at the meeting of theirs i went to with 70 marshals and Derby Phoenix struggled to get 50 marshals so used to put out a plea on the tannoy to get riders mates to offer up. The marshal cover is free as they volunteer but the specialists cost money as do the kit they need.

50 sounds a lot but when i was in charge at Druids i had 2 on the flag post at the entry, 2 on the flag post at the exit. With me in the middle i wanted 2-3 with me, 2 at the entry and exit and if we had spares i could have 2 in the inside to drag lowsides infield as it was a busy corner with lots of offs ..... Thats 13 on one corner but have run it with 8 and it was bloody busy as the flag posts cant get involved with recovery of bikes or first aid

A few years ago Bemsee stopped using their funds to accommodate the travelling circus that follows them around the country in local hotels and B and B's. I used to be part of the circus and my trips away used to be provided with a room but i paid for everything else/ All marshals were not accommodated, just a few regulars and corner commanders who were prepared to travel to every meeting ... now everyone camps at the circuit or pays for their own hotel as a cost reduction to the club

I've got someone coming to look at the Ducati race bike when they get back from the TT, so my MZ racing dreams might come true!

I want £1900, but I'm not really sure of it's worth. Some people ask £3k for them, but I've seen really rough 620's without WoW's go for as low as £1400. Mine has an ok spec...

    Oberon Clutch slave
    Alloy swingarm
APTC clutch (or is it ATPC?)
    Nitron shock
    WoW's with loads of tread
few bits and bobs of spares, sprockets, clipons, etc..

Could do with a bit of paint like.

I'll have to take some, this is the most recent I have, the seat is now painted an almost matching green with lots of go faster runs in it.

    I had 2 x Supa 5 and at TS250 4 speed.
Bought for a laugh and used them to commute a 15 mile round trip into town after my BMW was stolen.

Sold them all together for £250 when they became increasingly hard to start. Think the crank seals needed replacing.

They handled really nicely, would wheelie and some of the metal materials used were really nice and well thought out.

Crashed one on the Hyde Park roundabout after digging the solid peg into the tarmac. Tyres were the original ‘Bakelite’.

I did that on a C90 when I was a student. Dug the peg in and highsided. Hurt like hell, but I was told by a passed by who stopped to help that it looked suitably dramatic. Being of a professional mindset I went on to deliver the pizzas and bottle of coke I had in the 'box, took the tip and scarpered before the customer opened any of it!
