I bet if someone had told him at the time that he had 5 mins to get the bike back to the pits he'd have had a bloody good go at pushing it!

dont disagree marshal s usually shew you away from oil incidents, on the basis how long the red was out I did wonder why they did not send them down national track instead of Melbourne loop
think they should have slowed down a bit as a minute is not along time for race direction to make all the right deciesion

as for Sykes unlucky to get caught up in that rule, but I suppose rules are rules including slowing down for red flags

Sykes rode past 24 red flags, and multiple waved yellows and waved yellow and reds at high speed. He then tried to say it was the marshals fault because they were on a live track with a car, which distracted him and there wasn't an oil flag out.

Aside form his arsehole speed in the conditions, the track wasn't 'live' as soon as the red flags are out, everyone should be cruising slowly, and paying attention.
There is no such thing as an 'oil' flag, the red and yellow flag waved means lack of surface adhesion in the next sector, usually due to oil or brake fluid etc, stationary it means debris on the track, usually gravel or bits of fairing.
The medical car was at the side of the track because there were multiple fallers, two potentially seriously injured.
We *never* stand on a track to point out oil (or anything else) when bikes are still circulating, because of the huge risk from tits like Sykes. The flags are there to warn them. Think about it, if you've been warned the track is compromised and there's clearly a major incident in front of you, would you A] Slow right down and crawl along watching like a hawk, knowing you've already got 2nd place in the bag, or B] continue at 3/4 race pace and try to blame everyone elsewhen you come off.

Apart from anything else, under WSB rules, if he could have got the bike going again he could have continued, he didn't even try, just stamped away in the huff.

Swift clarification from Stuart for BSB. Bet DORNA/WSB don't follow suit.
