Always fancied visiting Corsica and may have a window of opportunity to go for a week in October.

Any recommendations of where best to stay?

Will be a combo of exploring the island, twisting (or lying) by the pool and sampling the local fayre.

    Thanks peeps

My info is out of date by nearly 40 years. Stayed in Erbalunga, near Bastia. Fab scenery all over.

I liked it 40 years ago too!

    Must go back sometime.

Friendly helpful people, but if someone looks dangerous, they’re probably as dangerous as they look.

A load of us from the Supermoto Forum on Visordown went there twice-fist time to the North second time South and Central.

Preferred the North as it was less populated and with some fantastic twisty roads.

Have a search on Visordown for more info. It was 14 years ago, but doubt much has changed...)

More very out of date info. I was there in 1983 and it was great cycling there. Good scenery in the inside of the inland. The roads can be rough and watch out for wild boar. They wander over the roads a bit like sheep do on moorland roads in the UK! Some spectacular views in places. Not as high or dramatic as say, the Alps or Pyrennees but nice enough for sure.
Ajaccio was anice town but a bit busy.

All the info and reports are that Corsica is indeed a brilliant place to visit. However, it seems that the place basically shuts down at the end of September.

So Corsica and Sardinia remain on our list to visit at another time. As alternatives, Mrs GP now looking at Cyprus and Morocco. Marakesh is currently favourite

My mate just spent two (initially reluctant) weeks in Cyprus for a wedding and has returned loving the place / already making plans to go back.
Says it's one of the nicest places he's ever been and he's seen more of the world than a Copper's torch!

Coincidentally, Mrs GP sent message at lunchtime saying Cyprus back in first place
