    ayup,

i'm considering buying a wheelchair adapted vehicle.

    summat like - https://www.alliedmobility.com/used-...freedom-lwb-9/

i like the idea of being able to take mother dearest places, but also have a way to transport the bike to and from the track for when i inevitably bin it again (thanks tricky and weeksy for your help at pembrey ) plus the added functionality to carry stuff.

the insurance is coming in at 600quid because i have never owned a car so dont have any ncb.

anyone got an experience of these things?

    thanks

    dave

coincidentally I was looking at some old Ambulances at a classic show last weekend and thought the coolest of track day vans could be based on a 60's or 70's ambulance

You only need one of them if you want to claim back VAT for someone disabled. It probably costs more than the VAT to have the ramp put in as it has to involve cutting a hole in the bumper to qualify.
I found they were all to small for a family so just bought a crew cab transit and a couple of 2m ramps.

Some fab custom jobs been made out of hearses. Well-maintained and never driven hard. Generally cheap because no bugger wants 'em. Shame the modern ones don't look half as good as the old ones.

The annoying Henry Cole "mate, mate, mate, mate" has already done one of them as a "race van" for his classic speed trial bike

I was going to suggest he just get a trailer for the track days and invest in decent tie-downs for his mum's wheelchair. That might scare her even more.
...at which point we're back to either the ambulance or the hearse!

Does your mother travel in her wheelchair in the car or in a normal seat?

i spoke to her yesterday about it, and she reckons she's getting to a point where she can get herself in and out of a car normally, she's even got her driving licence back. i asked if she was planning on getting an adapted car and she isn't, so.... i don't reckon i'll bother now and just get a standard one.

good to get some responses though, so thanks

One of these is what you need

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invaca...r_1973_(3).JPG

You could use it on 2 stroke track days.

I was gonna suggest that. Designed by AC (of cobra fame) so it's got pedigree too.

There's a chap on YouTube who has a channel all about shit old cars (hubnut) who has recommissioned one and done a roadtrip in it...
