Mod 2 booked for Wednesday. Fingers crossed...

Could anybody say if itís common for new riders to pass this test first attempt? Or are my own expectations too high?

    Thanks,

    A.

If your instructor thinks you are ready then thats a good sign...... remember what they said and remember the rides you did with them to get that approval

If you end up out to play in Norfolk i might be able to point you in the direction of / take you along some decent roads to play on

All the best for the test! Not sure on stats but just try your best and see what you can do - remember your life savers!

Good luck! MC test has traditionally had a far higher pass rate than cars.

My own first time pass rate as an instructor was around 85%, rising to around 90% in summer... used to tail off a bit in the winter because of the crap weather.

Most of the 1st time fails passed second go. Nearly all the rest passed third time. Out of around 3000 test passes, I can count on one hand those who took more than three.

Really refreshing to have all the time encouragement and details from an instructors POV. Iím confident, just need to make sure I get the most common mistakes covered.

Focus on doing it right, rather than avoiding 'mistakes'.

Spin and Horse are really old and smell of wee.

Just remember not to pull too many wheelies. Knee down on the roundabout will get you extra points if you wave at the same time

Examiners recognise tainted trainees, it's a bit like a masonic sign.

All the best for the test. My nephew is doing his Mod2 soon as well. Has an ER5 with 3200 miles on it in the garage waiting for him. Spotless and almost ready for MOT. Needs a front brake switch and he is sorted.

Remember to read road signs and to maintain the right road positioning. Life savers and clear observation of pedestrians and crossings. You'll be fine and will soon be enjoying a ride in the summer weather (pack your waterproofs).

Based on the evidence that your entry into motorcycling seems to be the opposite of mine, the portents don't look good. My lessons didn't go well and I was given an extra day of free tuition to help me improve. Every ride was a white knuckle experience and by the day of my test the instructors' assessments of my chances of passing were 60/40 against. It could have been worse, at least I had some chance. No untoward incidents occurred during the test and I surprised everyone by passing with a clean sheet.

Don't worry, I'm only kidding about the portents (the rest was true). If you do what your instructor trains you to do, you'll be fine.
