    I found a crappy little sealed 6v cell so I've been dicking with the electrics today. Now got everything but a spark. I havent had to play with a set of points in 20 years...

    A mate rocked up this evening having heard tales of batteries on charge and fuel being bought. A quick tinker with the points and shes a runner! Absolutely hysterical laughter as we tried riding it round the lawn in the rain with a stuck clutch. It's ace, and we were 19 again for a bit. I'm sat in front of the telly now with a cuppa, aching like a bastard but it was so worth it.

    Clutch sorted, I think I'd best sort out some paperwork. Anyone done the historic vehicle thing for tax and MOT exemption?

    Yep, but I've only done it when I've had the tax renewal notice. Basically fill in the change of taxation class, present to PO with tax reminder and they send the V5 off while charging 0.00p for the tax. Not sure how it would work in your situation though

    Got to sort a V5 first, but it says fill in the form for free tax and present at post office with a valid MOT cert.. but if its tax exempt, its MOT exempt too, isn't it?

    Actually I've just read it again, and I can present a V112 for MOT exemption instead. I never was any good at small print.

    not entirely helpful but my spitfire was sorn and registered as a regular car and after taking whatever forms to the PO, they did everything online and told me i'd receive an updated v5 (I guess) in the post in due course. And indeed I did. I was also able to legally drive it sans MOT et tax with immediate effect (I think).
