Could be a good chance, but they do have a history of under performing at world cups.

They've won the last 2 world cups, and have made at least the semi finals in every tournament since it started

Aussies and Kiwis got a scare. Nice to see the Argies threatening the bigger teams too.

Enjoyed the England v USA match. Well, the last two minutes were very exciting!! Watch it in a very quiet bar with only ahandful of other people, no one to really talk with about it as it went on. But did it look scrappy? The game kinda looked a bit 'odd' to me. But was very happy with the result - my nephew will be miffed as it was played on his birthday and as a half English/half Yank, he does tend to identify more towards the US side!!

Gutted I missed the game this morning tho

Soo, after a bad tackle on Owen Farrell, he then missed his kicks, guessing that it's connected.

Is there another kicker? Should he be checked out? Is it just one of those things?

(The tackle made me wince big style )

The tackle on Farrell was karma, he should have been taken off for a HIA though.

Japan didn't play as well as they did against Ireland but were the better side. Samoa on the wrong end of a lot of decisions in the last quarter, Peyper seemed to be trying really hard to give Japan the bonus point. Japan offside not being picked up, and there hasn't been a single penalty for not straight into the scrum until he penalised Samoa right at the end, which led to Japan's 4th try.

I'm getting really pissed off at the inconsistent reffing, tier 2 teams get penalised more harshly than tier 1 for the same offences, scrums are a lottery and the breakdown has become a free for all - in at the side, off feet, holding on all ignored at times and penalised at others. High and/or late tackles are judged as "rugby incident"/penalty/yellow/red for virtually the same incident - compare Hooper's tackle on Dan Biggar with Ioane's tackle yesterday.

I suppose the casual spectator doesn't know or doesn't care, but for those of us that do know the Laws it's becoming very frustrating.

I usually watch with a load of people who KNOW rugby, so I can ask whats whys and wherefores. I've been watching on my own this time and don't understand a lot of the decisions. I used to understand a lot of the rules but haven't kept up with it for the last ten years or so, so I'm relearning and learning the changes when I watch with current players

The Karma thing - I've now got a vague recollection of Farrell making a bad tackle. Is that what you meant? But totally didn't understand why he wasn't taken off for the HIA!

The France vs Tonga match - the commentators totally disagreed with the ref on two or three occasions and listening, I kind of saw what they meant.

Why would the refs penalise the tier 2 teams more than the tier 1?? Or is it just this tournament that it's showing up??

Owen Farrell has form for making many bad tackles. These two are probably the most well known, both from last year's autumn internationals

Lousi the Tongan lock was lucky not to get a yellow on at least 3 occasions today, I wouldn't be surprised if he was cited for the later no arms tackle. Note that no further action was taken against Farrell for either of the above incidents.

I think the inconsistent reffing is more obvious in the RWC because there are a lot of matches in a relatively short time, and many of those feature T1 vs T2 countries. T2 countries more often play other T2 countries (except for Scotland ) and those matches get far less coverage

Jesus! I can see why you said Karma!!!

It is really bad that he didn't get carded or that the Tongan lock wasn't.

I don't understand why the reffing is so inconsistent but get that it's more obvious in the RWC. Kinda, do as I say not as They do!!
