Whooo, and hooo.
After some debate I have been allowed out by myself for most of August without the memsahib. I have signed up, for a bike tour of Norway and Sweden next August. This is the one

I have long had an ambition to do a trip to Nordkapp, but old age is creeping up on me and I am not really certain how many years of long-distance riding I have left, and the north of Norway is not littered with hotels to stay in.. This trip doesn’t get to Nordkapp, but does cross the Arctic Circle, and ticks several other boxes, so that will have to do.
No doubt some of you think this is tame (I’m looking at you Fern, and the likes of Abel and Bigyin), but for a 73 year old bloke with a suspect heart it is about all I can sensibly manage. I look at all the adventure stuff and think “I could do that” but the reality is that I have no-off-road experience and am a bit long in the tooth to learn- learning will involve falling off (a lot), and I don’t bounce as well as I used to. And the memsahib would have a fit!
Anyone used Magellan Motorcycle Tours before? Too late to do much about it if they are crap, because I have paid my deposit, but it would be nice to confirm my thoughts that they are OK, if perhaps pricey.
Anyway, I’m excited, and I thought I would share that with you.![]()

Can't help with Magellan tours but good on you, plenty people half your age would shy away from a ride like that
Enjoy!
Have a good time, I enjoyed traveling in Sweden, I haven't been to Norway.
Have you sortedvout your visas? ☺

Jeez you've got 20 years on me .. that's hardcore in my book.
Sounds great - I watched an episode of Harry's garage last night where he drove to the Arctic circle - it's a long way.
I'd love to do it .
Sounds awesome.
I'll expect a full report when you get back, with lots of pictures
Linky no work, looks like they've cancelled your trip!
A trip to the arctic circle is on my momocycle bucket list, I've been put off because a 4-5k round trip takes more time to do properly than I can realistically book off work in a oner. Certainly a trip of a life time, I'm not jealous or anything.
The next on my bucket list is a ride to dip my toes in the black sea, which is probably a it more achievable/affordable.
Not sure what happened there.
Try this.

Looks like a good ride out, have fun![]()
Might not mean much but anyone who could write " cross the whole of Germany to the Danish border" is suspect. You don't cross 10% of Germany.
Followed by "We then ride the whole length of Denmark" which represents a decent ride out within England.
My bullshit meter has gone off scale, so double check all they promise.
With luck you'll have a ride of a lifetime.
He also appears to think the ferry from Harwich goes to Rotterdam, but acknowledges that it sails from the Hoek on the way back.
Whilst it sails from Harwich at 23:00 I think you need to be on board about 21:00.
If you want food when you get to Harwich, use Morrisons Cafe, don't use the cafe in the port unless you fancy a week of food poisoning.
You will love it........ the first 10 days are a lot of the roads/areas we rode a couple of years ago ..... the roads are good quality and wide open if you sticl to the tourist routes. Places like Trollstigen and Geringer will be rammed in August but at least bikes can get through the traffic and endless coaches decamping from the fjord cruise ships
Have a look through our thread, it might whet your appetite
