Ah, fair cop. I thought you were replying to an earlier suggestion of using them.

3M's range of products is massively massively bigger than you will find in normal punter outlets. We've bought all kinds of tapes and adhesives from them over the years, I bet you can get "thick" tape that will adhere to all kinds of surfaces.

Are you sure about the magnets thing too? A permanent magnet - which has a static field and hence no induction stuff generating electric fields - isn't going to affect radio waves in the same way as other sources (e.g. transformers) might.

For example whenever I run in an organised race I attach my number - which usually includes an RFID tag - to my shirt with those tiny strong rare earth magnets. I've never had an issue with not being picked up by the electronic timing mats despite the magnets being right next to the tag. Dunno - give it a try with your home wifi?

EDIT. Could you also screw one side of the velcro tape to the wall using mushroom heads and big washers or something like that?

Can sheet or mesh be used to shield / decrease a magnetic field?

They have two options to choose from or to come up with a better idea themselves....

    1} the break away clips
    2} Velcro

1, is fiddly and makes them hang down more

2, is easier and closer to the ceiling.

    Watch this space.

    Thanks for all the input!
