    WHEN - Sunday, 6 October 2019 from 10:30-12:00

WHERE - Over Community Centre, 16 The Doles, Over, Cambridge CB24 5NW.

In 2011/2 I created the 'Science Of Being Seen' (#SOBS) presentation for Kent Fire and Rescue Service as the third module of the pilot 'Biker Down' course which won a Prince Michael of Kent International Road Safety Award in 2012. I personally continue to deliver SOBS for KFRS, and several thousand bikers have now seen it. Currently, more than half the fire services in the UK offer Biker Down and most deliver a version of my SOBS presentation.

And SOBS has gone international. In both 2018 and 2019, I was invited by the New Zealand Transport Agency to take the SOBS presentation talk to the far side of the world and deliver it as part of the 'Shiny Side Up Tours' at more than a dozen venues on both islands in front of several thousand local motorcyclists.

    ---------------
"A lot of good stuff and rigorously put together with proper supporting facts." - Peter Ramadge
    ---------------

SOBS is research based and founded on solid science. I aim to debunk the 'drivers don't look properly' myth and instead make riders aware of the very real limitations of human perception and explain how that causes the vast majority of 'Looked But Failed To See' errors. I also consider the problems resulting from the 'be bright, be safe' conspicuity thinking in and the limitations of popular
of current hi-vis and day-riding light (DRL) strategies. I conclude by suggesting some pro-active rider strategies that are likely to be effective.

The presentation should last around 50 minutes and I'll be taking questions afterwards.

I'll also have some of my books with me to sell on the day.

The presentation is in association with:
RoSPA ADVANCED DRIVERS and RIDERS CAMBRIDGESHIRE
who are happy to welcome non-members. Observed rides (and drives) will be on offer too.

    Sorry

If I'd put 'Over' no-one would have known where it is. I had to look it up
