55 plate - that's nearly new. What's actually wrong with your carb?

    Good point.

Wouldn't a bike that new have efi? There's really no reason to go from efi to carb, if so.

    Hi.
Thanks for reply 55 plate its 15 yrs old,I have been advised by my tech friend who also had a van van and has ,
Swapped my carb for his and runs perfect,so he thinks that the carb is at fault, somewhere,he has in the past stripped many carbs and is under the opinion that you could strip carb, but never actually remedy the fault.
So on that basis I am trying to source a carb for van van,but finding it difficult to obtain the correct size.
BS 26 is supposed to fit but the inlet outlet sizes don't correspond.
Once again thanks for your interest

Hi Thanks for your post 55 plate 15 yrs old no Efi my tech you friend who also has van van has swapped our carbs and it runs fine.
He has also stripped and cleaned mine to no avail,so on that basis I am sourcing a new carb, but apart from genuine Suzuki parts which cost £sass I am not having much luck.

Sorry, must have been thinking 56 plate? Anyway, my /our error.

You'll find a lot of carbs on eBay which claim to be mikuni or whichever Japanese brand, but will turn out to be Chinese copies. These will often be no better than the broken one you are trying to replace.

Have you tried looking for a used carb off a running but crashed or otherwise end of life bike?

Is the engine used in something else, gs125 or what have you? Might find a carb better that way.

Give us a bit of history. Has it sat unused for a long period? Did it just start to play up while it was in continual use? Carbs are pretty robust and generally go wrong due to crud in them. Give us a bit more history may be a case of cleaning it checking flOat levels and a few other small items.
