    Dear friends,

I have some sad news. Marydoll has asked me to tell you all that Mr Tack passed away last night.

Some of you will know that he has been unwell for a while. He was diagnosed with cancer of the throat in June. Up until less than a week ago he was at home with Marydoll, then went into a hospice for his final days.

Marydoll was with him at the end.

His funeral will be in Zagreb which I will be attending. I'll be happy to take any messages for Marydoll with me, or pass them on to her before.

Mark was my best mate, a huge influence on my life and he leaves a big empty space that nobody else can ever fill. I will miss him sorely.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

We will be giving Marydoll all the support we possibly can during this difficult time, their daughter will be home tomorrow.

best wishes to you all from Croatia.

    Update:

Thanks for all your lovely thoughts and pictures.

We are preparing for the service on Monday at Zagreb Crematorium, after which we will be going with bikes (Mary is pillion with me) back to Mark's favourite bar in Dubrava, for drinks , traditional spit roast pig etc. then onto another bar after that.

We will be joined by his Daughter Julie, his family from the UK, friends Jim & Jane, Danielle, KR1Slapper and smallred from the UK. Nik Samson had hoped to attend but was unable to. The members of mark's bike club will be there as well as the lovely Brits that live around his area and were also his good friends, along with his Croatian friends from the local community. We know it will be a real celebration of his life.

If anyone wants to, Mary has asked for donations to your own local hospice.

I am printing out this whole thing here and taking it with me for Mary and others to have a look through.

    UPDATE

We gave Mark a truly great send off.
Marydoll rode pillion with me at the front of the convoy of bikes and cars, she was wearing Mark's bike club colours from MK Kockari (it means "Dice").
Leading us was Gile, President of the club and great friend of Mark.
A great many other bikes from the club rode with us and his many friends and family were also with us in various cars.

We rode from Dubrava (the town near where Mark lived) through the countryside to Zagreb, then through the city to the Crematorium.

Representing TRC we had smallred and KR1Slapper with us.

The service was in beautiful surroundings and was an extremely emotional event. Mary had chosen 3 songs to be played which were interspersed with readings.
Eve, a very good friend of Mark's had composed a reading on behalf of all the British expat friends that live in their area.
Gile read his own words in Croatian.
The final song was Motorhead: "Till The End"

Following the service, we rode back to Dubrava to Mark's favourite bar, where the drink began to flow. I gave a speech in a lighter tone and the celebration of Mark's life got started.

We moved on from this bar to the Bike Clubhouse where 2 whole roast pigs were waiting for us. We ate, drank and told stories of Mark for many hours.

Later, we went back to Mary's house where the celebration continued late into the night.

I printed this entire thread and the other one with the stories, added some photos of Mark, bound it into a book and gave a copy to Mary and one to the Bike Club.

Mary was comforted by all your kind words and stories, nobody was surprised that so many people thought so much of Mark.

I passed on all the messages that people sent me by PM directly to Mary.

At the weekend, Gile and I rode to Omis, on the coast down past Split, where we attended a bike rally held on the beach. It had been Mark's last rally and we were all there last year, the weather was hot and sunny, the sea was warm and the beer flowed, whilst we shared more memories of Mark.

Mary says she's coming with us next year.
