    Leaving about 600,000 customers stranded.

The scale of the German operation to repatriate the 300,000 German customers will obviously far outstrip the huge British repatriation operation, code named "Matterhorn", to repatriate about 150,000 British customers.

    Staggering numbers.

Given the huge cost of the repatriation, redundancy, liquidation etc I wonder if the Govt actually did the sums on the viability of doing a controlled restructuring of Thomas Cook?

Made me wonder just how bad their books were for the Govt to not step in!

I read somewhere it's about 600m versus the requested 200m for the financial aid.

Are there not EU rules about state aid though?

May have been that a significant enough part of it is non UK entities to make it workable.
