Get decent trail runners shoes. Surely if you can run with them you can walk too.
IMO trail runners have the best balance between weight, durability, comfort, and breathability. They dry quickly when wet and are far less likely to give you blisters.
Having said blisters the last thing you want to do is go to Himalaya in new shoes.
Make sure you do few dry runs first.

I tried using so called mountaineering boots sure your ankles are safe and I almost broke my neck. Heavy as hell and the sole got zero traction on rocks.

Long story short now I use ASICS anywhere unless there is snow:

Yes. They were good. Very large. Also the jungle in the south of the country.

I had a couple of days down in Chitwan last year. I thought it was a bit underawing after the peaks.

I liked both. The jungle was less knackering and got fairly close to some impressive animals including rhinos and crocs.

If you were getting close to rhinos and crocs I'd want good running shoes rather than heavy trekking boots

Look at Eccoshoes andboots. They ain't cheap but are sturdy. Many are made of Goretex so are fully waterproof. their soles tend to be very grippy with excellent treads. Thick comfy soles and recommended by me!
    HTH.

You can't outrun either no matter what shoes you have.

A can of Lynx and a lighter should have deterred them if they had tried it on.
