Well, its not exactly new but i bought it today as a potential work bike to use when instructing as the Ducati is complete useless at that.

2001 Yamaha Fazer 600 with 24,000 miles on the clock. Came with a deep growling Akrapovic already fitted and probably cost half what i paid for the bike

It been parked up most of the last 5 years yet has almost new pads, colour matched braided hoses fitted and had no MOT but seemed worth a punt.

Picked it up and took it to my local friendly MOT bloke but asked him to give it a good going over to see if anything needed looking at but apart from slagging off the Dunlop tyres as he hates the brand it was tip top and passed with no advisories

First time in over 30 years i have had more than 1 bike

Yeah, in my defence its just hoses and a belly pan and was on it when i bought it guv .....the Akra sounds great though although will probably need a DB Killer to be "training friendly"

Love it- great bikes , have always had a soft spot for the Gen1 600 Fazers - especially the Gold ones, although the blue is a passable second choice

    I'm not convinced that's a kosher Akra.

My mate had a black Fazer 600 in 2002 when we went to the Le Mans 24hrs, he had a cheap alloy can with a 50p Termigoni sticker on it. There was a procession of French dudes lined up to ask where he'd got the can from

Awesome. I had a gen 1 Fazer for a while. The only thing that ever annoyed me about that bike was the lack of a clock.

A racing mate has just said similar .... i'll look closer tomorrow but in all honesty not really that bothered as it sounds good but will need to be quieter and the bike cost was well under market value anyway judging by quite a few others i have seen advertised locally over past few weeks. It was low priced as sold with a 6 month expired MOT

I nearly typed something very rude.

How come no one told me that?

Fazers must be cool, even Chillit has one!

My friends went back to Yamaha under warranty three times for gear box issues.... but at the end of it he'd perfected the stand up wheelie

All I can say is that they were better than the ones on the Ducati I had before and after!

Actually I've thought of another thing that annoyed me - the tank was too small. Apparently the later ones fit straight on, so I bought one, but before I got around to trying it I sold the bike.
