Who are the British icons nowadays? Some people become "Institutions" . From the past I'd suggest Tommy Cooper,
    ric Morecambe/rnie Wise.
Or sportsmen such as Bobby Moore.
    Geoff Hurst.
Winston Churchill who surely still is an institution. even some 50 years after he died?
Margaret Thatcher? Love her or hate her, she was an insitution, an iconic figure was she not?
Possibly Cilla Black was as well?
The are are few peiple alive today who have become s iconic as them, if any?
    Sir David Attenborough maybe?
    Sir Paul McCartney.
    Tom Jones maybe?

Who does the TRC massif think are icons now?
    TIA.
For me David Attenborough would be far more of an institution than anyone else on that list.

I was gonna say the same. How you seriously say Cilla Black but query Sir David? WTF?

    David Beckham I'd agree with.

Yes, i dont even get why Sir David Attenborourgh was a maybe .... when he snuffs it we should have a period of national mourning

Fortunately we have Professor Brian Cox who is in training to become just as iconic

Just thought of another one. Billy Connolly . I reckon he's up there with Tommy Cooper in the comedy-icon stakes!

Scotland should have a state funeral for him when he goes!

If you bother to read David Attenborough's CV, in my mind there is every chance he knew what Jimmy Saville was up to.

There is one thing that is talked about wherever you travel and is a recent British institution, Brexit.

I think he should change his name to Boath McBoatface, and the UK should have a non binding referendum about it.
