Anyone got one of those cheap GPS trackers? Well under a tenner now and if they do work okay, seems a bit of a no brainer to not have one? Thoughts?

Don't you still need a continuous mobile account (via a sim card) in order to actually retrieve the tracker's location?

I assume it uses sms messages to communicate, you can get unlimited SMS sims for 8 a month.

Look at the reviews for the small cheap ones, IIRC accuracy is very poor.

I'm using www.monimoto.com which is about the size of a large cigar tube, powered by two CR123a batteries with a life of about 8 months, SIM costs EUR 30 a year. All info is on the site, and it works very well IME.

    That does look really good!

    only 2.60 a month!

I've no idea how it stays powered for so long with those dinky coin batteries though.

If I understand the website correctly it doesnt. The keyfob uses a coin cell, the alarm uses two bigger batteries.

Yep have the big one with the magnet, use on bike and car does the job fine, TKSTAR battery does not last 6 months as they say though.

That's correct. I've just changed the key fob battery after about a year (I've got 2 trackers linked to the same fob, mildly annoyingly if I move two bikes the first links to the fob and the second thinks it's being nicked!). Battery life on the system can be extended by not letting the alarm get activated, as that transmits a signal to phone and data networks, and by setting status reports to every 10 days rather than daily.

I am using Spytec STI 2019 Model GL300MA GPS Tracker on my Kawasaki Z400 and it does the job.

You're never going to stop everyone, but they do help get a lot of vehicles back.

What legitimate use does a tracker blocker have?

    Quite.

Not very helpful either unless you're prepared to leave it plugged in and powered while you strip the vehicle looking for a hidden tracker. Thieves commonly steal a vehicle and leave it parked for 24 hours to see if anyone comes following a tracker, it's free.
