Anyone got one of those cheap GPS trackers? Well under a tenner now and if they do work okay, seems a bit of a no brainer to not have one? Thoughts?

Don't you still need a continuous mobile account (via a sim card) in order to actually retrieve the tracker's location?

I assume it uses sms messages to communicate, you can get unlimited SMS sims for 8 a month.

Look at the reviews for the small cheap ones, IIRC accuracy is very poor.

I'm using www.monimoto.com which is about the size of a large cigar tube, powered by two CR123a batteries with a life of about 8 months, SIM costs EUR 30 a year. All info is on the site, and it works very well IME.

    That does look really good!

    only 2.60 a month!

I've no idea how it stays powered for so long with those dinky coin batteries though.

If I understand the website correctly it doesnt. The keyfob uses a coin cell, the alarm uses two bigger batteries.
