As per title: One day car insurance - any recommendations or avoids?

I may need to insure a car for one 25 mile journey.

A set of 'show' plates with a reg of a kosher car would probably be cheaper

I've always used the policy of getting the cheapest I could and hoping I not need to claim.
It's worked so far but it's been a while.

You could use public transport for 25 miles which would be cheaper .... even a haggled private hire taxi would be cheaper than a one day policy probably

I assumed a borrowed car as most of us insure a car all the time when we own one

Have you got an AA policy and get the fucker "recovered" to work

I used dayinsure, to take my old disco down to a potential purchaser, and then wrote it off going round Loch Lomond.
They paid out, but took a little bit of effort to persuade them it wasnt' a dodgy claim...though no amount of money would tempt me into hospital in Paisley for a week again!

Strangely, they appear to have blocked me from getting quotes ever since!

I've used dayinsure and Aviva, never had to claim so can't comment on their willingness to pay up. I just used the cheapest and hoped I wouldn't need to claim.

I'm trading it in, part-ex, at 4pm. Insurance runs out at midday and I can't easily rearrange the time.

Edit: so as as trade in, not ideal arriving on a recovery truck

Drive it there before 12 and go to the pub for 4 hours (other, more driving friendly, ways of wasting time are available)

I take it that you're not using the same insurers for the new car? When I traded in my car earlier this year, my Ins Co. covered me for my old car on the day up to me taking ownership of the new one, then transferred the policy to the new car. Next time, swap cars before your policy expires.

Still TBC. It's total coincidence that the current ins expires on the same day*. Dealer provide 5 days fully comp cover on the 'new' car, but that leaves a four hour gap.

    * Some timing circumstances beyond my control, plus I accidentally bought the car
