    Many moons ago I had a R1100S.
    Standard bike had 90+ hp. After a lennies airbox, sj air filter mod, gs inlet stubs, BB chip and a decat pipe we ended up with a respectable 104 which turned it into a bit of a Q bike

    Quite, the answer is most people already have more bhp than they can use, so what matters more is turning more heads lookatmeimsuchabadboy etc.

    On a more technical level, a lot of work has already been done on forced air induction (FAI), most people will have seen the air inlets on MotoGP class bikes, located right on the point of the nose where the static pressure from the oncoming air is highest (if you try to take it from the sides the air has already started to separate to flow past the fairing, losing static pressure and gaining dynamic pressure in proportion). This is basically the maximum FAI you can get, increasing the intake area doesn't achieve anything as the pressure remains the same, and hence the pressure differential across the inlet valves which is what you're trying to achieve. There is a secondary effect that with a larger intake area you lose less to skin friction but by the time you get to MotoGP intake ducts the losses are minimal. Then you get the airbox. If you can get the air entering the box to slow down, its dynamic pressure is converted to static pressure, which is what you want. Unfortunately there you're limited by geometry and dimensions because a racing engine does gulp a lot of air and there's only so much space to fit a big airbox.

    The difference there is one is a hyper bike capable of warp speed and the other just needs somewhere to put the intake.
