Looks like the Rivian will piss all over it, better looks, more practical.
Be interested to see the prices.

As I've said a few times, I really like the idea of electric vehicles, just not a the tech tat they want to add to them.
Using a touchscreen to control everything just looks cheap to me, plus I don't want to navigate a menu to change basic settings like heaters.

Much of Teslas stuff is starting to look like its designed to be a self driving taxi when the tech catches up with no external locks, card reading or phone activated and very little controls that can't be locked out with a password or whatever.

Too complex for my taste. Too many critical systems operated by a touchscreen where a switch or a knob is usually used.

    Plus, well fuck its ugly

50-60 year old European blokes are probably not the target audience. 40 and down are the playstation generation and on one hand have no qualms about touchscreen and such tech, on the other hand they are the generation who call out assistance to change a tyre.
My Niece lives in California, he and her husbans both drive Teslas - she says it the norm...?

It sure is Ugly though. That said it would only need mildly tweaking to look funky IMO

I assumed this was the pre-launch-testing bodywork to conceal the beautiful finished article from the press.

    Horrible.

To be fair they know how to do curves, just look at their cars.

Work vehicles like pickup trucks are - I would argue - better with straight lines. They will almost inevitably get damaged, so being able to do straightforward bodywork would make life a lot easier.

Mate is always denting his pick ups and has always said if someone builds a truck with cheap, clip on plastic panels over a strong chassis, he's putting the first order in.

    Another take on it.

Personally I'm looking forward to there being decent lecky workvans but I realise its the early adopters buying expensive SUVs that pay for the development so Yay Elon you hero, you produced a vehicle that makes a Fiat X19 look good.
    Well done.

That's not a workvan. It's a lifestyle accessory for the man who wants to look different, but not too different, and has the money to spend on looking it.

Given how popular behemoths like the F150s are, I think he's targeted well tbh.

    I like it.

    Rot proof exoskeleton chassis
Dent resisting cold rolled stainless panels
    All electric high power vehicle

A utility vehicle doesn't need to look pretty but as a contractor, you don't want to turn up for a job in a tatty old rust bucket. No matter how good you are at your job, the client will take one look at your vehicle and make a snap decision about you. That Tesla cybertruck is going to look the same ten years from now, i.e. "new".

Musk might be an impetuous selfish asshole but he is no fool.

I can certainly see the merits in it. Ridiculous for our roads, but so is a F150, but if i was living stateside and needed such a behemoth truck, then maybe I would consider one? I can see it now, O'Taipans, The environmentally friendly Block paving driveways & patios specialists.
