It sounds like they (the team) treated Abraham like shit. Left him high and dry with no chance to sort other rides out.

I'd like to see him jump into WSB etc and at least have a chance of a half decent machine and some results.

No. If it's true it's pretty shonky on the teams part. Karel seems to be a bit philosophical about it on the basis he knows he isn't a top end rider and so knew this could happen. But the manner in which they've gone about it is all wrong. Sounds like he knew that if Zarco's name was in the frame he might be replaced, but to tell a rider it's all sorted and to do the first test and be ready to leave for your second only to get fired by email is a bit rubbish.

I think we saw the same with Miller earlier in the season when there was talk of Lorenzo replacing him.

I saw a video interview of the team boss, Ruben Xaus, today and he made it clear that Ducati is in charge and he's just along for the ride.

So as Yorick says, ruthless Ducati.

I guess the same message went Zarco, "you get the same bike Dovi is riding now, prove you can ride it, show us respect and then climb the ladder".

Yeah, that's all very well, but Xaus didn't have to be such a twat about it. The "Yes, you're fired. Don't contact me again." was well harsh and could have easily been handled differently.

And sacked via email is a bit shitty.

Can't argue with that but if you find the little video the look on Xaus's face as he was talking I reckon he got similar treatment from Ducati. From Xaus's point of view, Zarco had already said "that outfit is not good enough for ME" in no uncertain terms and then, maybe, Ducati phone up or email, "OK here's deal, you take the big mouthed Frog, we give you best quality used bikes, only used for shopping or you go swim with the fishes".

I admit to liking Zarco, when he's on the ball he's a real racer.

Remember, Ducati, Italian, who perfected gladiatorial combat - the Italians. They didn't do it by being nice.

Even with all that context, how you communicate with others sets the standard. Just because you have been treated like shit, does not mean you have to pass it down the stream. Xaus could have been courteous and told Abraham that Ducati have him by the balls and he has to let him go as he has no choice. No need for the way he did it.

He didn't do that well with BMW in 2016. See bottom of this link.
