He's had Covid already as far as I know.
I have a very good 99% or maybe slightly more dust reduction side pod filter mask that I use for work, although its very good at filtering the air I breath in (because it goes through the filter) the air I breath out is totally unfiltered because it just passes through a one way valve.

A mask thats great for one direction of air isnt always good for the opposite direction.

oooh, is it brag on your reusable respirator time again?

I've got one of this, with filters of course. Yes, it's only got a one way valve. Am I bothered? No, because if I'm in a situation where I need to wear it, it's all about me.

I've got enough S10 respirators on the kit shelf in my garage to keep us good - but I bet all the filters have expired.

It's been OOS for nearly 10 years, so there's a chance they are

When I fell ill I ordered a job lot of masks. Asked here first. Have about 20 proper job ones with removable filters. I've got about 100 standard issue surgical masks and about 120 of unsure but it was from a builders merchants

If I'm down the supermarket, I wear one. Mainly because of droplets and people not observing social distancing.

I'm riding my MTB then I don't . I have no objection to people taking the piss. It looks silly picking up a pint of milk looking like you're off to a rave but we are where we are.

I'm not entirely following government advice but that's mainly because government advice is influenced by stock availability

This is one of the aspects of this pandemic I don't understand.

Why are they angry? They are being told not to see their families to stop the spread of the virus, it's not a punishment or a Police state - it's modify your behaviour for your's and your families own protection.

The NHS staff know the risks better than anyone, if they choose to stand close together then fair play, they do inside the hospital because they have to.

Because people are self-entitled idiots. A large number want to be able to do whatever the fuck they like even if it kills them

I guess so, I suppose I'll have to lower the bar even further on my estimation of peoples intelligence and it's pretty low at the moment.

How did we as a species ever make it out of the caves?

Any other species would have just rolled over and died.

The fact that we're not doing that gives you your answer.

As was mentioned on RTE radio (Irish national broadcaster) yesterday, there's two fundamentals concerning the spread of the virus -

    1) The density of the population, and

    2) The density of the population.

    Says it rather succinctly.

Ok I know I'll get a bit of stick but here goes.

Firemen* all have to sit together in the same engine, then they all go home to the wives and kids after the shift.
Therefore if they, their wives and kids all meet up for a BBQ in one of their gardens this weekend it's doing no harm and normal people shouldn't question their judgement?

    * feel free to substitute other workers who can't social distance effectively
