My road is full of cars, looks like only a couple of cars are moving day to day. All the rest are as they were Sunday.

Can BJ order a full lock down or does he need parliament to sit n vote on it first?

Traffic is virtually zero between Worcestershire and Leicester, I'm in the lab today, gave myself an hour lie in and was only late by 15 minutes

What do you have against the elderly*?
What do you have against liberty?
I'll give you the 70s, it was a shit decade.

The police were given extra powers, Derbyshire police immediately went out of their way to abuse those powers. What, exactly, in my post did you disagree with?

What do you have against liberty? Nothing, but I have a reasonable expectation that the authorities and their agents will rightly be a teeny bit more draconian in times of crisis. This is a time of crisis, if we have to give up some freedoms during it so be it.

Heaven help us if there was another global war, the screams of the self-entitled would ring around the world.

It was OK. Apart from the fashions.

If HMG had offered clear guidelines to the police, and the police had followed them would you still be grizzling? BoJo & Co. are the lawmakers after all, the police just administer those laws.

That's a heck of an increase. They did say that peak is coming in the next couple of weeks though.

British American Tobacco working on COVID-19 vaccine using tobacco leaves

(Reuters) - British American Tobacco, the maker of Dunhill and Lucky Strike cigarettes, said on Wednesday its U.S. biotech unit was working on a potential vaccine for COVID-19 using proteins extracted from tobacco leaves.

Kentucky BioProcessing (KBP), the unit developing the vaccine, could produce between 1 million and 3 million doses per week starting in June, the company said, with support from government agencies and the right manufacturers.

For all the people that want an absolute lockdown what do they think will hapen when restrictions are lifted? Surely there should be a steady but reduced rate of transmission so it works it's way through the population at a level that the NHS can cope with.
So a majority of people should be isolated but the few that don't for various reasons may well be performing an essential function in all of this, the NIMBYs seem to forget that keeping people out of their back yards won't stop it getting to them. If they are going to get it in time for the peak then it's already too late for them.
