I've just read the announcement - sad news. Is there anywhere else other than the dire facebook where these discussions may migrate to?

You can access my FB page directly as a reader at www.facebook.com/survivalskills although you can't contribute except via email.

You can block a lot of the FB tracking and advertising features with browser extensions or by running a privacy-oriented browers that accesses a VPN.

The biggest issue with FB as a delivery mechanism is that once a topic is more than a day or two old, it slides off my own page, which makes it difficult to find an old topic. And if you are an FB user, it's hit and miss whether one of my posts will every pop up on your wall. That's why I recently released all 2014's original better riding posts (100 of them!) in a pair of e-books.

But I suspect most of us will migrate to Weeksy's new home - I'm hoping for an invite

Just a shame that all the useful stuff on here - as happened with VD where they recently shut the former Survival Skills section completely - will be lost.

Some will get archived on the Wayback Machine but not all. It was the Magicalia debacle, not least the copyright grab attempt, that prompted me to move my own original contributions to FB where at least I had some control over things.

Maybe try and keep it all to one thread?

We’ll certainly miss the self-appointed forum police.

That's a real shame. Is there anything we could do to save all the useful stuff?

This place has got to be the world's greatest encyclopedia about motorcycle conspicuity

I didn't see Buddha's closure closure coming, but perhaps that's because Buddha doesn't wear hi-viz

Look at the other thread. A new forum is currently in the process of being created.......

He's gone all super-stealth. You can't see him, or his motorcycle.

Cos he hasn't got one any more.

If you have time - and I suspect some of us wlil have quite a lot of time on our hands in the next few weeks - you can search under your user name to find your own posts.

I did start doing that with VD, and did rescue some stuff for re-use but they quietly closed off the old forum a few months ago.
