I've one of these that I use in the van. It supports the bike upright well enough when I'm tying it down. The only bike it hasn't worked with so far has been an XL185, the front tyre was just too skinny. I've not not used when working on a bike, I've an Abba stand for that.

I've used a similar stand to the one shown, that I used to keep my (then), Rocket 3 upright.

If it'll hold an R3 upright on it's own, it'll hold up most anything.

I've used a headstock stand when I'm working on bikes but only if I've also got it on a rear stand! Feels all wobbly when it's on the front one alone!!

I've got a paddock stand but i get someone to hold the bike upright when I put it on it - there's nothing to hold at the back to stop it wobbling -

Owning a Guzzi is a pain for the front wheel. The weight is distributed unevenly. When on the centre stand the bike throws all its weight to the front. I donít know what your bike is but a cheap scissor jack with a block of wood under the sump/engine works great. Lifts up the front wheel without any problem. If put in the correct place it is very stable.

Visit your local car breakers/back yard garage and you'll get one for much less. I'd offer to post one but the cost would be near that of a new one.

Use it for cleaning the bike, maybe putting it on the paddock stand, general tasks etc

Too nervous about using the paddock stand on my own.

Also its useful for keeping the bike upright in the garage as well and take less spare.

Storage - ideally, both wheels off the ground and the tyres protected from sunlight.

For the Le Mans I used this wheeled stand I made. The entire bike frame can be removed leaving the engine to be moved where ever I want or the entire bike to be spun on the spot.stand small.jpg
For the Tuono I use an Abba stand with a front lift arm which I should have bought years ago (the lift arm)

My Guzzi is even more of a pain as it has no centre stand. Can't use a rear paddock stand or ABBA stand as none fit.

It's a real pain having tyres fitted as I have to go to a Guzzi specialist. And yes, I have tried buying a main stand for it-been looking for months as always told "out of stock".

    Whysub. What is your model?

You obviously know thereís lots of after market stands.

The Italians are renowned for their lackadaisical attitude to producing parts. I waited almost two years for some bars from Ducati. Gave up in the end and bought a Honda.

Take the seat off, so you grab part of the subframe.
