Lots of stories in the media about excess speeding, but it all seems to be police doing the measurement. No mention of speed cameras. Has the speed camera network stopped doing its thing because of staff shortages? Is that why all the turbo nutters are going mad?

Speed cameras have been out in the SW - maybe not in early days, but I have seen them several times in the last month.

Northamptonshire and Warwickshire still have their vans out, and getting lots of speeders too.

Most people know where the fixed cameras are, and if they're of the type to want to drive fast, they'll speed where the fixed cameras are not. So I'm not surprised that the police are having to be out and about 'doing something' about them.

I'm hearing anecdotal stories of people ignoring fixed cameras in the London area.

I've seen more Police out on the road in the last month than I usually see over a whole year. Vans and hand held traps are also busy in Wiltshire.

Locally here they never stopped with the camera vans. Even the little units that operate in local villages with tripod mounted cameras never stopped and looked bored shitless every time i cycled past them when there were sod all cars on the road

Not noticed in London, usual cameras in usual places. Just don't speed... 20 means 30, 30 means 40 and 40 means as fast as you can!

I thought most of the fixed cams were automated these days. Camera talks to ANPR and DVLA database, puts address on bill and prints.
