I am merely going by the thread title...which mentions a light. I dont know the model he mentions, so i was assuming it was a sensir for a light. If its a combined one for a guage, fair comment.

I apologise for my brief absence, it's been crazy at work since we came back after the lockdown. I haven't really picked up on anything I could try to solve the problem. Do you have any questions that would help to navigate you to the cause?

Is it a light and a guage? If it is both, do they both go off if the senser is dissconnected?.

If it is just a light and it goes off when dissconnected it is almost certainly the senser...try a different one.

In that case its a combined sensor that goes up incrementally.
It's still going to be the sensor...swap it.

davidat19, it's not the sensor, like I said before, the sensor is brand new and was checked with a multi meter. This is all irrelevant now, after many weeks of continuous headaches troubleshooting the anomaly I have finally figure out what it was. I took the gauge apart and a couple of tiny transistors were burned. After replacing them it runs like a dream with no lights on dash and measures the temperature correctly.

Thank you all for your help.
