Can I suggest a thread title change to "recommended mechanics" which would be more descriptive and more of an obvious search.

    Default Bike Treads

    Bike Treads, Swindon

I was recovered today with a front wheel puncture (inner tube). The bike was on the bench within two minutes of my arrival and I didn't have time to finish my coffee before it was ready. 17.50.

They are tyre specialists but they do servicing too, seem like a first class operation.

+1 for Hitchcocks and the only person I would trust to do any work that I can't is Chris at XBikes.

    So that's:

    Hitchcocks.
    Xbikes.

Yup another vote for Paul and Jack.
I take my bike there when there are bits I don't fancy doing, and for MOT's.
    Great service, top fellas.
Not got the overinflated hourly rates of a big dealership and they know their stuff.

On nik's recommendation ( and a few others) I had my bike mot'd there today, it's not far from my place.

Really friendly and had a good old chat about bikes while he did the test.

Another vote for Ducati John ( Rothwell, Leeds ).

G/F had a problem with reach to the levers ( small hands ) and I called him on a saturday afternoon at 2pm for advice.

"Bring it round, I'll see what I can do...."

The guy was on his day off surfing the net.

He straightened the bent ( dropped ) brake pedal, manfactured on his lathe a new piston rod for the clutch lever and drilled and inserted a grub screw so it didn't hang loose and vibrate.

You can't put a price on service and genuine willingness to help to that degree.

But, this being TRC I will......

I get my bike MOT'd at Essential Rubber, N1. It's a ride in ride out service, which is why I like it.
I get my tyres from FWR, Kennington in south London. Again, ride in ride out.
I get my bike serviced from various places but haven't found a London workshop that I trust. Steve Jordan in Leatherhead serviced it last. He's well known here, so no need to recommend him further. But I will anyway

Where in Kent (please) as I am going there at weekend?

For all things Guzzi, I'd recommend Corsa Italiana in Colliers Wood.
