You must renew it this year or you will have to go back to novice IIRC - I believe there's been a change in the rules.

    According to the ACU website:

National licence holders who have allowed their licence to lapse for 3 years or more and have not competed at a Road Race event in this period, will be required to complete the competitor training course before resuming competition at Clubman level.

If you haven't had your eyes done in 3 years you will need it for the license. However the requirements are on the back of the application form so I'd have thought any optician should be able to fill it in for you. I went through a period in the 90s when I held on to my national without doing a single race, just renewed it every year. You can still do that and obviously it's very worthwhile if you're thinking of getting back into racing later.

You can download the forms from the ACU website so don't hang about in case the crusties in Rugby decide to move the goalposts.

I'm not asking for me 'cause i'd be rubbish at racing but how do you get into it and like into a team? A male friend of mine is really good and we've no idea where to start looking.

In simple terms you join a club and win championships. You'll then have people inviting you to join their teams. Be it as a fully supported rider, or as a paying rider...

If you don't win championships you won't get the option.
