    In the town - zilch
In the county - AFAIK about a dozen, one main dealer (for Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki and something Chinese), most of the rest are little back street fixers. Local BMW dealer has a bike department too.

This is Cornwall, so to be expected

Necro thread boing. Anything changes in 8 years? I still don't have a town to have dealers. Inverness or Glasgow being the nearest, so unashamedly mail order pretty much all the way for me.

1 in Newbury, 8 miles away. None in Didcot 8 miles away.

Once you get to 10-13 miles though there's lots, KTM, Ducati, Harley, Honda, Kawasaki etc.

Couple of changes in my town. Only dealer is honda and their customer service attitude is so shit that I won't darken their doorstep even though I once again own a Honda. There are a couple of independents, some of whom have folded, and some of whom have come along to fill the gaps. The only one I really like is the wizened old local 1%er mechanic who does my MoTs and sorts anything I can't for whatever reason, he's a proper old school fabricator type.

Premier Suzuki in West Wickham shut a good few years ago. Shame, as they were a decent shop.
My local mechanic (Frank Dunstall) is still going, he's excellent. I buy all my parts from him in the hope that it'll help keep him in business. Might cost a bit more than online but he more than makes up for it with free advice.

    Holy Thread Revival.

I live in a small town called Wombwell, there's a small independent bike shop that does MOT's and stuff, I bought a bike from them once.

The nearest big (not that big) Town is Barnsley. Theres one franchised dealer who sell MV and Benelli. There's a franchied scooter shop and an independent who minly do MX parts, but have recently started selling Chinese scooters and 2nd hand road bikes.

There's a good few shops in Doncaster, but not as many as there used to be. Doncaster was bike shop capital of the world!

In a 10(ish) mile radius of me there's:
Premier Bikes (KTM, soon to be Triumph too apparently, as well as huge selection of used bikes, near Abingdon))
    Blade Harley (Abingdon)
    Blade Honda (Abingdon)
    Blade Ducati (Abingdon)
    Blade Honda (Abingdon)
    Crowmarsh Classics (near Didcot)
    Bikewise (Abingdon)
Crawley Custom and Classic (near Witney)
Kings Two Wheel Centre (Suzuki, Kidlington)
    Mike Wheeler Motorcycles (Witney)
My mate Adam's classic and custom place (don't think it's got a name but operates out of a barn near Bampton)

We had 2, both real old style bike shops. One called Swifts which was run by a couple of old boys for years. I took my FS1e for its MOT there when I was 16. Kin hell that was 40 years ago! I digress. Anyway they retired a few years back and let it out to a new team but i've never been there since.

The other ones was Nelson & Fords who also had a shop in Brentwood, but I think that closed a good few years ago? ANyway, they changed their name to Chucks but it was still the same people. I heard recently that they are closing down, which is a a shame. They switched from selling bikes to selling scooters as there was a bigger demand, but I guess that became unsustainable too. I was told the boss in there is a competitive cyclist, or was, but was more into bicycles, so was always expecting it to become a shop selling and servicing them, but then there is Halfords and a bike bicycle shop in town, so probably not worth trying?

I did make a point of buying oil and spares from them for a long while, but the convenience of internet shopping killed it in the end.

TBH I've not had a good look around Aylesbury yet.

Hughenden Triumph shut down earlier this year (maybe late last year?) though.

There's the Infinity accessories store at Burcot (used to be M&P), with a cafe next door still going though.

As mentioned in my post, I had heard that the franchise was going to Premier Bikes-

No dealers now in Barnstaple, three bike shops, two of which sell second hand bikes, servicing etc. and the other (which is closing down at Christmas) which sells clothing and accessories.

BMW specialist in South Molton but if you want the dealers, it's Exeter.
