That is pretty useless isn't it?
Publicising TROs but not actually identifying where "BOAT48" is.

Be sure to use the button under the LH menu to tell them what you think.

Believe it or not, I'm a very active member of the Suffolk TRF already and I'm not far from Bury St Eds. The meetings had been quiet for a while, but we now seem to be building up a core group of riders who are going out more regularly, and not just round Thetford!

I'm going to pop down to an Essex meeting when I get the chance, but I've been a bit tied up of late.

Funnily enough, that point was made to the RoW chap on the phone and by email, but I'm now going to make it 3 for 3...

Give Richard Sugden a shout then chap, he will probably be able to advise on locations of the lanes in question as he is clued up on most of East Anglia.
    Or give Ian a shout:
    Essex TRF contact detail

I know Richard and I've contacted Ian in the past, both have been very friendly and approachable. I'll drop them a line if the info's not forthcoming, but I prefer to go the official route as they are paid for it and Richard and Ian are volunteers who don't get paid.

I'm also intending to update the Trailwise site as I get any info, so the information's accessible to all.

Aceboy, the thread starter rides in that area.
You can pretty much look for yourself tho.
On an OS map, MOST BOATs -+-+-+ (Byway Open to All Traffic - clue is in the name) are legal to ride.
RUPP/RB (Road Used as a Public Path/ Restricted Byway - RUPPs became RBs so depending how old your map is you could show either) are VERY grey areas with some being legal and some not, but IMO they are best avoided as it's such a grey area people who claim to know invariably do not.
ORPA/UCR (Other Route with Public Access/ Unclassified County Roads) again some are legal some aren't, however they are either one or the other, no grey area. If they are on the list of streets or definitive map held by the council they are legal.

So MOST of the research you need to do can be done with an OS map of the area. The rest requires either a trip to the council offices to mark your map up off the definitive map, or local knowledge (hence you asking here), however there is a third way, which saves you the bother of the trip to the council.
    Google Maps display for Trailwise
Basically the people that run the site have taken the time to do the research for you.
Browse the map and click on the individual lanes and it will tell you their status.
