A mere Neighbourhood Officer, but where I work in a sunny part of South Manchester we are very much a Response Unit also (well, those of us with enough service to pick up keys to ageing Fiestas and know what to do when we get there!)

Did loads of admin stuff: Sat with one of the quants and tried to derive the correct methodology for the interst accrual of certain swaps (is averaging or compounding daily WGAS?), sat with the young lad I have doing his post A level couple of weeks on the job. He wants to work in banking, deluded fool. After explaining how interest rate derivatives, bonds, futures and a whole list of other products work he looked totally lost, but I'll bore him into submission.

Went to gym, ran 6km and did a bit of upper body. Came back and stuffed cheese and ham sandwich into my gob.

Gave young lad a project-ette to do which I thought would last him all week and he's just finished it. Give him some proper work/responsibility tomorrow.

About to go home. Homemade veg curry tonight.

Does it get any more rock 'n' roll than that?

    School run
Drove to Aylesbury and back to collect younger step daughter
    Gathered documentation for holiday tomorrow
    School run
    Holiday money
Last minute wash items for holiday
Parents arrive...and fook things up by having brought two cases when they are meant to only have one, so major repacking, and then adding of a lighter 2nd case only for the airline site to have crashed so now I don't know whether it went through, whether my Mum's card was charged and cannot reprint an amended boarding card

Got up at 0230. Went to Santorini and back. Watered the plants when I got home. Going to bed in a bit.

Getting up at 0330 tomorrow to go to Corfu and back.

Life's not that exciting this week.

Made panels for a timber framed building with quite possibly the most miserable person I've ever worked with.
    Basic pleasantries seem beyond him.
If I had just shot his dog I could understand it but there's no puppy on my conscience..

Everyone else there is OK but the most conversation I got from him today was the words "Seven legs, two cripples, one double, an L and a single"*

I don't want to be yacking all day long but jeez working with someone that seems like he's in a permanent sulk all day makes time drag by, especially as I'm starting at six AM and finishing at 5PM.

*cripple: any vertical structural member in a frame that is shorter than the standard members.
