I got "The counterfeiters" on the recommendation of a friend and may watch it this weekend. I looked it up on here, and Veggie Dave creams over it, so, it must be good.

or a council estate UK spin on Gran Turino with Clint Eastwood?
I enjoyed it, it made me swear.

Watched the MicMacs recently and enjoyed it. It is slow to get moving but it has the bonus of not being American. Last night - watching the extended versions of Lord of the Rings with my boys. What a film!

An episode of Top Gear, a little bit of Doc Martin, some episodes of The State Within and Jeremy Brett's Holmes in The Last Vampire.

Solomon Kane- Sky +'d it a while back and didn't have high expectatations as I'm not normally a swords and sorcery fan but I throughly enjoyed it, nicely shot, atmospheric and sounded really good through the AV system

    Sin City

    Comic book style violent thriller.
Quite surprisingly enjoyable. Some lovely cinematography and excellent use of CGI (or whatever) to make the cars jump and corner like in cartoons. Some lovely hot wimmin in kinky attire too. I wanted to hate Mickey Rourke just for being mixed up enough to have that weird plastic surgery but he was ideal for the part (and any other poorly lit part where freak show exhibits are required probably).

I would actually watch this again and am genuinely peeved I didn't get to see this on the big screen. Didn't notice the lack of spaceships.

Finished up with the original Planet of the Apes. Enjoyed that thoroughly, and no I didn't see the end coming.

Matrix One and Two Back to back. One was great but two was some frenetic action film in danger of suffocating from the need of the oxygen of a good script. The multiple Agent Smith fight scene was too fucking dumb for words. Why did he do his Superman thing at the end when he could have left them to it at the beginning? It didn't know where it was going let alone from whence it came.

    I too enjoyed micmacs.

Anyway, last night the Mrs was out so I did 3 films whilst doing some research:

    1) Sherlock Holmes. The 2009 Jude Law/ RDJ. I'm becomming more of a fan of RDJ since his rehab and he is, there aint no denying it, charismatic. This film is enjoyable, RDJ's RP is OK and I even managed to laugh on a couple of occasions. Another blinding villian played by the sinister Mark Strong = worth a watch. The only downside is that Guy Ritchie directed it, so it's very signposted in places.

    2) Jonah Hex. Recreation of some comic book cowboy. Starred someone Brolin and John Malkobitch (who must have needed the money). Shite film. Megan Fox prances around in her undercrackers, but I couldn't even get a semi.

    3) Raging Bull. Classic innit.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news & all

I agree; Sherlock Holmes is a great film.
Iron Man is betterer tho (more toys/explosions).

Monday: Season of the Witch - pretty boring but a good CGI enhanced fight at the end. Probably a bit scary if you're 10 or have a phobia of wolves.
Tuesday: Red - really enjoyed this one, a retired CIA operative is the subject of a hit, he survives and rebands some old comrades to sort the mess out. Great stuff from Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren, passable performance from Bruce Willis. Lots of explosions and guns but no spaceships.

    'Debbie does Dallas'.

Was some bird called Deborah, who's teenage dream was to star in the 1980's soap.
