Luc Besson's Nikita. I've lost count of how many times I have watched it and no matter what I always fall about when Anne Parillaud does her little dance to the Mozart piece.

So what did you watch? No need for a lengthy write up.

A Good German with Cate Blanchett and George Clooney. I watched this some while ago but forgot the story. I have to say that having watched Ms. Blanchett last week in Jarmusch's Coffee and Cigarettes she is one of the finest and most versatile actors around.

I liked the unusual story in A Good German and the black and white made it all the more interesting insofar as he was trying to create a noir look. Also the use of a fixed lens.

    Paul.
Any movie featuring an Alien that smokes dope has got to be worth a look.

My 10 and 11 yr old boys enjoyed it more than me though

The Next Three Days. Not bad, if you can cope with Russel Crowe for 2 hours.

I started watching Planet of the Apes (1968 version!) and it seems good so far.

I watched the last few episodes of Band of Brothers last night.

I've got the first series of Kung Fu (1972) to watch next. I can't imagine it being quite as good as I remember?

I watched 'Limitless' with De Niro and that chap from Hangover the other day. It was better than I thought it would be: some struggling writer stumbles by a pill that allows your brain to access the 80% it suggests doesn't get used during normal functioning.

Upon taking the tablet, dude becomes very highly functioning and completes his book in days. The dealer is then murdered, but he finds his stash and continues to take the drug daily; becomming more and more brainiac and high-achieving until he's sitting at some top-table with De Niro.

Thing is, he starts running low on the drug and it turns out he's not the only one using it (and now after his stash).

An enjoyable blockbuster of a film

On Sunday night I watched 'Inception' with LDC. Their take is that you only use 20% of your brain when awake, however you can access 100% of your brain when asleep.

I found myself look for the drugs they were using in 'Limitless' to free up the 80% of my brain needed to understand Inception. My wife fell asleep during the film and now probably understands it perfectly.

I'm too tired of an evening to read subtitles so anything too fr00-fr00 is off the cards at the moment

Hi or Lo brow it's what you enjoy that counts. I'm waiting for somebody who has watched a few Fellini films because I have lots of unanswered questions.

Taken - the one with Liam Neeson runnign round Paris looking for his human trafficked daughter.
Not bad actually, but needs a bit too much suspension of disbelief to really get into the idea that Liam Neeson cna single handedly beat up ~100 Alababian gangsters and a couple of Frenchies.

I wonder what it would have been like without Luc Besson's scribbling?

    Harry Brown.

Reflective brit flick with Michael Caine as an OAP ex-marine coping with life as a pensioner on a shitty estate (this is ripe for a sexed up US remake with Steven Segal).

Pluses: Caine as good as ever; satisfyingly fatal head-shots to estate low-life.
NietherOneNorOthernessness: Nice idea, plot stumbles a bit, bit depressing.
    Minuses:Limited opportunity for spaceships.

I saw that yesterday, thought it was a chore, can't be doing with that noir voice-over shit and, as a super smart guy, the first thing I'd have done was figured out how to not get my stash nicked. Take enough drugs and everything comes to you - job, power, girl, money, happiness, brains, etc, no repercussions

On Sunday night I watched 'Inception'
Saw that ages ago, instantly forgettable.
