Take the Superman story, but instead of the child that fell from the sky being inherently good he's not and as he grows up and develops powers it becomes clear that he is the opposite of a hero.

Interesting take, reasonably well done 7/10

The Great Hack (Netflix). Exposing the tactics used by Cambridge Analytica to influence elections around the globe. The centrepiece was Trump and Brexit, though it felt like the producers were trying a bit too hard to convince the viewer, rather than letting the viewer decide for themselves (ironic given the subject matter).
The company's past was far more interesting, especially their role in the Trinidad elections where they began a campaign to convince young blacks that it was cool not to vote by creating what appeared to be a grassroots anti-establishment campaign.
Could have done with being half an hour shorter, but otherwise well worth a watch/10.

    Predestination

Gender-bending time travel science fiction with Ethan Hawke. Great script, if predictably predictable in places. Had the feel of a Wachowskis film.

Either one of the best films of the past decade or too confused to really be any good at all, and I can't decide which.

    Good fun / 5

    Beauty and the Beast

A nation of confused middle aged men can breathe a sigh of relief because Emma Watson is now playing characters who are above the age of consent.

Not really into musicals and got annoyed when everyone kept bursting into song all the time but the script was both fresh and faithful and the cast was good.

    It's not weird any more / 5.

    Dragon Blade

Classically-styled martial arts action flick with Jackie Chan and a surprising performance from John Cusack. An exiled Roman legion joins forces with a band of Chinese peace-keepers to defend a city. Plenty of rousing speeches about brotherhood, camaraderie and honour, and some typically daft moments.

Turn foes into friends / 5

    Spiderman' Into the Spiderverse.

Old skool comic meets the 21st century, enjoyable watch if overly long.

The latter, it's shit and makes no sense!

It's good until about the last 45 mins, it just gets totally confusing after that.

    The Boys

    Amazon prime series.
Superheroes are privatised, most of them (and the media companies controlling them) are a bunch of cnuts. Karl Urban knows they are and tries to outcnut them.
It's fucking savage and so far (4 episodes) brilliant for it. I'm hooked 9/10

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood at the flicks last night. Not sure if a piece of cinematic genius or if I paid to watch Tarantino have a 3 hour wank...

Also, bearing in mind the film was set in 1969, the late 60s Bonneville that appeared had the tail light from the 1973 onwards model- the cuddly wuddly beary beary boos

    The Big Bus (Amazon Prime)

Airplane on a nuclear powered bus, but not as funny.
