    Dragon Blade

Classically-styled martial arts action flick with Jackie Chan and a surprising performance from John Cusack. An exiled Roman legion joins forces with a band of Chinese peace-keepers to defend a city. Plenty of rousing speeches about brotherhood, camaraderie and honour, and some typically daft moments.

    Spiderman' Into the Spiderverse.

Old skool comic meets the 21st century, enjoyable watch if overly long.

Either one of the best films of the past decade or too confused to really be any good at all, and I can't decide which.

    Good fun / 5
The latter, it's shit and makes no sense!

It's good until about the last 45 mins, it just gets totally confusing after that.

    The Boys

    Amazon prime series.
Superheroes are privatised, most of them (and the media companies controlling them) are a bunch of cnuts. Karl Urban knows they are and tries to outcnut them.
It's fucking savage and so far (4 episodes) brilliant for it. I'm hooked 9/10

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood at the flicks last night. Not sure if a piece of cinematic genius or if I paid to watch Tarantino have a 3 hour wank...

Also, bearing in mind the film was set in 1969, the late 60s Bonneville that appeared had the tail light from the 1973 onwards model- the cuddly wuddly beary beary boos

It's got Margot Robbie in it so it must be good surely...

I personally can't wait to see this, waiting for it to come out on DVD.

I think therein lies the problem. Studios have cottoned on to the fact that franchises pull in the same punters repeatedly and remakes of old favourites are easy money. I can think of some notable exceptions, such as Birdman, Arrival and 3 Billboards, but cinema seems so predictable in recent years.

I read this article to other day:http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/201...ast-great-year

Would I say that 1999 was the best year for films? Dunno, but there were certainly some corkers in there.
