    Hello and welcome.

The AA site used to be good for this sort of info:

    Welcome to the site.

Judicious use of Google will help get the info you seek, I'm sure.

    Here's a start:

    Legal Requirements Motorcycles in Spain.

It's quite a decent trip if you're only just getting into biking.

One word of caution - the roads are excellent but they can be slippy, especially in the wet.

Even in the dry you need to watch out for the dust making it slippery at times. One chap I was riding with managed to lose it on a roundabout because of this (and he wasn't leaning it much).

Oh, and dogs - every little village is full of apparently stray dogs wandering round. I managed to flatten one earlier this year

Watch out for loose livestock in mountainous/rural areas (Picos for example)you may find a cow wandering around when you least expect it.
Welcome to the site...plenty on touring in Spain if you do a search

Not sure about Legal Photostats, I would take the originals, and do. Having been tax collected fined by the local plod for a walking pace miss-demeanour with a white line, they did a pretty thorough number on my docs. I'm not sure how photocopies would have gone down. Or my ability in persuading them that the photocopies were legal and that they should accept them. Oh yes they had guns too

Don't bow down to these foreign johnnies. I never take anything special when I go to Spain. If they get toighty, tell them you're in with Angela Merkel and you'll have their jobs.

I only ever take my original documents, all sealed up in a waterproof bag. I've never bothered with any of the safety stuff you're supposed to take with you. If you get stopped all they are interested in is your licence, your V5 and getting as much cash out of you as they can. Spanish cops are alright mostly. I got chased down a dual carriageway and stopped once because they wanted to tell me my headlight bulb had blown. They'll always try and help you if your lost......and so on.

The French ones, on the other hand are a completely different kettle of fish.

    Grrrr.

Thats why we are taking the ferry to bilboa and not riding through france....and we will save a fortune on fuel hotels and food not keen on the idea of being stopped all the time

I normally keep copies of all docs on a memory stick and my phone. If necessary a new paper copy can be printed.

Also useful to keep somewhere like skydrive or google docs, or email to yourself.
