    But it's only 22BHP

    Is that enough?
Its a cross over bike for light /medium trail riding and some roads top speed 84mph which sounds good, that would feel quick on knobbly tyres.
if that is the riding you and penny want-it looks a good choice if your doing heavy/sand mud crf 250x better(37bhp) but not that good on road,
now your retired a gentle ride in the Spanish country it sounds perfect for either of you.whats the worse that can happen you learn on it and sell it on.big bhp not such a great thing on off road bikes.

The 250X is 2 grand more, kin 'ell

I've searched and nobody seems to do anything bigger than a 250 for sensible money. Can get new CRF205L under 4,000, just wish there was summat with a bit more oomph.

Righty ho, we're gonna get the missus an off-road 125 to go exploring over here

It's rough terrain and some, erm, big volcanoes

    So what's the most suitable 125 ?

Preferably one that's still being produced so we can buy new or nearly new.

    Cheers

Actually, what about a Spanish Derbi or a Rieju, there must be a local dealership.

    KTM125 then.
It's just that the 150 is easier to ride because it's got a bit more torques.

Well, they're certainly going to be a higher price than a Derbi or a Rieju, but I suppose you get what you pay for.
I'm not a massive fan and have moved over to Jap motocross bikes, but an EXC would be good to ride the trails on.

Thread resurrection. The CR230 I've been riding is a bit underpowered and doesn't handle the rough terrain too well.

I've ridden my mate's KTM 250 Freeride and quite liked that. But it's no engine brake and there's lots of rough, steep hills to get down. The 350 Freeride is €400 more at €7,200. Need to have a go on one of them.

And having a go on a 300 Beta X on Friday.

    And more recommendations ?

I wonder how the CRF250L compares to the 230?

They're pretty cheap over here on Honda finance, Kawasaki do 0% on the KLX250 too, I guess they're more 'commuters' than kosher MX stylee bikes tho'
